Egypt eVisa for Spanish Citizens

Access to Egypt eVisa Form

Egyptian travel authorities rolled out a new way for Spanish passport holders to acquire a visa before traveling to Egypt. The Egyptian eVisa for Spanish travelers was launched in 2015 with the hope that it would infuse the tourism industry in Egypt.

The eVisa for Egypt is filled out online, which simplifies the entire process and eliminates the need for travelers to visit a consulate or embassy before they travel.

Do Spanish Travelers Need an Egyptian Visa?

The simple answer is that every Spanish passport holder must have an Egyptian visa of some sort if they plan on entering Egypt for more than 48 hours.

There are a few different Egypt visas available for Spanish travelers. Applicants are advised to read on to find out which Egyptian eVisa is the right one for their trip.

Egypt visa on arrival for Spanish nationals

If Spanish citizens are intending on transiting through Egypt, then they are eligible for visa-free entry into the airport, provided that they have proof of onward travel. Should they wish to leave the airport, their departing flight must be within 48 hours of their flight into the country.

If their flight is six hours or fewer from the time they land in Egypt, then they will not be allowed to leave the airport at all unless they hold a valid tourist visa.

Spanish travelers are also eligible for a visa on arrival to enter Egypt should they not have time to apply for an eVisa before traveling. However, there are a few things that they should keep in mind: the application fee for a visa on arrival must be paid in person in cash since debit and credit cards will not be accepted by border authorities in Egypt.

Another issue to keep in mind is that there is no option for a multi-entry visa upon arrival; each traveler will be granted a maximum of 30 days on a single entry.

Spanish passengers applying for a visa on arrival may also face long lines and a drawn-out process at the border as the number of applications to process is difficult to anticipate. For this reason, it is always recommended to apply for the Egyptian eVisa ahead of time.

Tourist Egypt eVisa available for Spain

The Egyptian eVisa for Spanish passport holders is available in two formats: A single-entry and a multi-entry tourist visa.

The Egypt single-entry visa allows travelers to stay up to 30 days in Egypt on a single visit, meaning if they leave the country for any amount of time they will be refused re-entry without a separate visa.

The Egypt multi-entry visa allows for multiple entries of up to 30 days within a six-month time period. This means that travelers can stay for up to 30 days before leaving and returning for an additional 30 days, repeating that process until the six months have elapsed and the visa expires.

Egypt eVisa: Terms and Conditions for Spain Passport Holders

There are a number of visa requirements that are necessary for Spanish passport holders to apply for the Egyptian eVisa:

  • A Spanish passport with at least six months of validity remaining from the date the traveler intends on leaving Egypt until the expiration date of the passport
  • A digital copy of the passport information page. This can be uploaded after the application has been submitted if needed
  • A debit or credit card to pay the non-refundable application fee
  • A valid email address to receive the Egyptian eVisa once it is issued

The typical turnaround time for a response once the application has been submitted is four to seven business days. It is recommended that applicants err on the side of caution and submit their application with at least seven days of time before they intend on flying.

While filling out the Egyptian eVisa application, Spanish citizens will need to submit the following pieces of information:

  • Full name as it appears in the passport
  • Nationality
  • Passport number and expiration date
  • Date of birth
  • Reason for visiting Egypt
  • Contact details
  • Dates of traveling to Egypt

Once the eVisa has been issued, Spanish travelers must print out a hard copy and carry it with their passport through the duration of their stay as an additional measure of security. Travelers must also enter Egypt within 90 days of the eVisa being issued before it expires.
