Check the Egypt eVisa Status

Before traveling to Egypt, the majority of foreigners first need to get a tourist visa for Egypt, and the most convenient way to do so is online. Once an applicant has submitted an online form, they are able to check the Egypt eVisa status while it is being processed.

The Egypt electronic visa process is straightforward, with no need to present paperwork in person at a consulate or embassy or queue at borders for an Egyptian visa on arrival, and the online status check option only adds to the convenience of the process.

Another advantage of using the online platform is that the candidate receives an email notification each time there is a change in the status of the application.

The different stages of the Egyptian eVisa procedure and what each status means are explained below, as well as the most common reasons for eVisa rejection, and how to avoid them.

There are 3 steps to obtaining an eVisa for Egypt:

  1. Complete the online Egypt eVisa application form
  2. Pay the eVisa fees and submit for review
  3. Receive eVisa decision (approved/denied)

Thorugh the notifications about status changes sent via email, travelers can keep track of the eVisa request and will also be informed as soon as a decision has been reached.

As the application moves from the start of the process to the end, it will have one of the statuses explained below:

Egypt Visa Pending

Once the eVisa application has been submitted for approval, the status is changed to visa pending and a confirmation email is sent to the applicant stating that the form and supporting documentation have been received correctly.

This stage should not last more than a maximum of 7 days. During this time, the candidate may be contacted via email to request extra information or additional paperwork which will need to be provided before processing can continue.

Egypt Visa Approved

In the majority of cases, the application is approved and a tourist visa for Egypt is granted.

Candidates receive an email letting them know that the eVisa request has been successful.

The validated Egypt eVisa is sent as an attachment to the email and should be downloaded and printed at home, to be presented along with the passport when traveling to Egypt.

The process is now complete and the visa holder can travel to Egypt.

Egyptian eVisa Denied

Whilst most visas are approved within a few days of submitting the request, there are some common errors that can lead to the Egypt eVisa being denied.

If this occurs, the applicant is notified by email stating the reason for rejection. It is then necessary to correct the error before submitting the form again.

If the applicant does not receive a notification about eVisa approval within 72 hours of submitting their form – the standard processing time for the visa – it is also possible to check the status of the online visa for Egypt application by submitting an online contact form.

This form must be completed with:

  • Full name
  • Country of passport
  • Passport number
  • Email address

Please note it may take up to 72 hours for a response about the Egypt eVisa status after submitting the form. For this reason, travelers are advised to submit their Egypt eVisa application at least a few business days before their intended date of entry in case they do experience any delays.

This can be done in one of two ways; either extend the visa in Egypt or leave the country to submit a new visa application online from abroad.

A single entry eVisa allows for a maximum stay of 30 days in the country for tourism, and is valid for 90 days to enter the country.

A multiple-entry tourist visa for Egypt, meanwhile, also permits a maximum total stay of 30 days, but this can be used across multiple entries to Egypt over a 180-day validity period.

Therefore, those who choose the multiple entry visa will not need to apply for every trip to Egypt, but those with a single entry visa will.
