Check the Egypt eVisa Status
Before traveling to Egypt, the majority of foreigners first need to get a tourist visa for Egypt, and the most convenient way to do so is online. Once an applicant has submitted an online form, they are able to check the Egypt eVisa status while it is being processed.
The Egypt electronic visa process is straightforward, with no need to present paperwork in person at a consulate or embassy or queue at borders for an Egyptian visa on arrival, and the online status check option only adds to the convenience of the process.
Another advantage of using the online platform is that the candidate receives an email notification each time there is a change in the status of the application.
The different stages of the Egyptian eVisa procedure and what each status means are explained below, as well as the most common reasons for eVisa rejection, and how to avoid them.
Verify the Status of your Egypt eVisa
There are 3 steps to obtaining an eVisa for Egypt:
- Complete the online Egypt eVisa application form
- Pay the eVisa fees and submit for review
- Receive eVisa decision (approved/denied)
Thorugh the notifications about status changes sent via email, travelers can keep track of the eVisa request and will also be informed as soon as a decision has been reached.
As the application moves from the start of the process to the end, it will have one of the statuses explained below:
Egypt Visa Pending
Once the eVisa application has been submitted for approval, the status is changed to visa pending and a confirmation email is sent to the applicant stating that the form and supporting documentation have been received correctly.
This stage should not last more than a maximum of 7 days. During this time, the candidate may be contacted via email to request extra information or additional paperwork which will need to be provided before processing can continue.
Egypt Visa Approved
In the majority of cases, the application is approved and a tourist visa for Egypt is granted.
Candidates receive an email letting them know that the eVisa request has been successful.
The validated Egypt eVisa is sent as an attachment to the email and should be downloaded and printed at home, to be presented along with the passport when traveling to Egypt.
The process is now complete and the visa holder can travel to Egypt.
Egyptian eVisa Denied
Whilst most visas are approved within a few days of submitting the request, there are some common errors that can lead to the Egypt eVisa being denied.
If this occurs, the applicant is notified by email stating the reason for rejection. It is then necessary to correct the error before submitting the form again.
If the applicant does not receive a notification about eVisa approval within 72 hours of submitting their form – the standard processing time for the visa – it is also possible to check the status of the online visa for Egypt application by submitting an online contact form.
This form must be completed with:
- Full name
- Country of passport
- Passport number
- Email address
Please note it may take up to 72 hours for a response about the Egypt eVisa status after submitting the form. For this reason, travelers are advised to submit their Egypt eVisa application at least a few business days before their intended date of entry in case they do experience any delays.Apply for an Egypt eVisa
The majority of foreign citizens require a visa to travel to Egypt, no matter the intended purpose of the visit or the length of time they expect to stay. Citizens from a number of eligible countries can submit an online application if visiting Egypt for short tourist stays.
The visa application system is the most convenient way yo get a visa for Egypt, as it removes the need to wait in long border lines to obtain a visa on arrival, or visit an Egyptian embassy to submit paperwork in person.
After completing the necessary personal, passport, and travel information required on the Egypt Visa application, it is necessary to provide an email address and pay the online processing fee before submitting the form.
This email address should be one that is regularly used by the applicant, as notifications regarding the status change of the eVisa for Egypt application will be sent to this inbox, along with a copy of the approved visa once approved.
Once the validity of the eVisa for Egypt expires, travelers will either be required to renew their tourist visa or extend it in order to be able to continue to Egypt.
This can be done in one of two ways; either extend the visa in Egypt or leave the country to submit a new visa application online from abroad.
Renewing the Egpyt tourist eVisa by submitting a new form is probably the most convenient option, as extending the visa in Egypt involves having to visit the Egyptian Passports, Immigration, and Nationality Administration office in Cairo in person at least twice.
If submitting a new application for an eVisa online, it is important to do so at least 7 days before the planned return date to Egypt to allow for sufficient processing time.
To ensure that the applicant does not receive an email stating that the Egypt eVisa status is denied, it is necessary to make sure that the attached photograph meets the Egypt photo requirements and to double-check all of the information on the new form is correct before being submitted.
Whether or not a traveler needs an Egypt eVisa for each trip depends on if they choose the option for single entry or for multiple entries when completing the online application.
A single entry eVisa allows for a maximum stay of 30 days in the country for tourism, and is valid for 90 days to enter the country.
A multiple-entry tourist visa for Egypt, meanwhile, also permits a maximum total stay of 30 days, but this can be used across multiple entries to Egypt over a 180-day validity period.
Therefore, those who choose the multiple entry visa will not need to apply for every trip to Egypt, but those with a single entry visa will.
